Our objectives were straightforward.

We wanted to compare the timing of hibernation duration of wild and captive marmots. And the frequency of spontaneous arousals.

What we REALLY wanted to do, of course, was to answer a simple question:

Can we keep marmots in captivity without changing their behaviour?
