Here's the timing of emergence based on data from 1992-2001. Low elevation colonies are at bottom and higher elevation colonies are at top.

We were struck by the consistency with which marmots emerged at some sites. At Haley bowl, with 9 years of data, emergence dates didn't vary by more than a few days.

We suspect that site-specific conditions "train" marmots to emerge at particular times.
