Marmots in the classroom

Kids everywhere are working together to raise awareness and money for the Vancouver Island marmot. They come up with some absolutely brilliant ideas to get the message across and raise funds. -

• one school collects juice boxes used by the students at lunch time and takes them to the local recycling depot. A bag of 360 nets them $18, which they regularly donate to the MRF.

• a school librarian organized a reading incentive program where kids collected pledges for every book they read. They raised $600 for our marmots -

• one class held a massive plush marmot promotion, selling over 100 of the little critters to their families and friends -

• 2 Colorado youngsters made and sold bracelets and sno-cones for almost five months to join the adoption club - kids regularly ask guests at their birthday parties to make donations to the MRF instead of buying them gifts - a church youth group made and sold Easter chocolates - a class picked, washed, and sold 75 pumpkins one October Then there are bake sales (one featuring special marmot cookies!), coin drives, cake walks, plush raffles, craft sales as well as countless beautiful wall displays and art work: you name it, kids have done it for the Vancouver Island marmot!

A Marmot Poem

Marmots marmots, marmots
Cute cuddly loveable marmots
Warm soft furry marmots
Abandoned hurt sad marmots
Running jumping walking marmots
Small fluffy little marmots
